Purism: Getting in touch via Matrix chat

So I had previously sent a few emails about volunteering to no avail. Then I stumbled upon the developer guide which mentions Matrix chat, awesome. I figured I'll just pick up a client that supports registration and I'll get some advice on what is needed on the Librem 5 project. Nheko seemed like a good choice, none of the Electron app bloat and it supported registration.

Documentation needs some help though, at first I couldn't figure out which server to use. Turns out Matrix.org is probably the correct first server to sign up for. At least using it got me to the next stage of sign up.

Fail

In Nheko when attempting to connect a further step is shown in a popup with a link to verify something...

The popup disappears after a handful of seconds, the link is non-clickable and getting a screen shot of the link and manually re-entering it didn't work.

Note

As a guy who loves bleeding edge code, this is pretty much par for the course. Ah well.

The default implementation of Matrix chat is actually Riot so I'll try that out.

Also working on a way to get feedback to this blog without Discus (don't ask). I have an idea that might work, we'll see. Looking forward to being corrected by anonymous Internet experts. No really, I am.
